Rubio Slams Fake Democrats for Promoting False Trump-Russia Collusion Allegations

Rubio slams 'dishonest' Democrats on false Russia collusion hoax ties | Fox News

Senator Marco Rubio has unleashed a fierce critique against those promoting the narrative that former President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to secure victory in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Rubio’s comments, made during an appearance on the "Brian Kilmeade Show," targeted what he described as a baseless disinformation campaign fueled by political opponents, accusing Democrats of dishonesty and deception in pushing the Russia collusion narrative.

The controversy stems from allegations that the Trump campaign coordinated with Russian officials to influence the 2016 election, claims that were initially supported by a dossier of information that many now see as politically motivated.

Rubio, who once chaired the Senate Intelligence Committee, stood firm in his belief that there was no proof to substantiate the claims, declaring that the investigation into Trump’s alleged ties to Russia was a massive waste of taxpayer money.

Rubio’s criticism centered on the dossier used as the foundation for much of the Trump-Russia collusion allegations. He claimed that the dossier was a fabricated piece of political campaign disinformation, designed to undermine Trump’s presidency.

"This dossier was a piece of campaign disinformation. It was paid for by political campaigns," Rubio stated bluntly during the radio interview. The dossier, which was compiled by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele, was published by media outlets and served as the basis for the FBI’s investigation into alleged Russian interference in the election.

"This is a huge outrage because it was fake. It was a lie. And they used it to mislead the American public," Rubio added. "It cost millions of dollars in investigations, all chasing a hoax."

Rubio’s remarks came just days after National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard released new documents that purportedly show how the Obama administration politicized intelligence related to the 2016 election.

Senate Russia report proves Trump collusion was very real. But do voters care?

These documents could have significant legal implications, with the Justice Department and the FBI now reviewing them for potential criminal activity.

Rubio was adamant that the allegations of collusion were entirely unfounded. "We found zero, zilch proof that the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia," Rubio affirmed.

The senator also emphasized that, while his investigation did find clear evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 election, no conclusive evidence tied Trump’s campaign to those efforts.

In fact, the official findings of the Senate Intelligence Committee, which Rubio chaired at the time, confirmed that there was no collusion between Trump’s team and Russian officials. However, some Democrats have accused Rubio of distorting these findings to downplay Russian involvement in the election.

Rubio’s statement also called attention to the broader issue of political manipulation, accusing the left of pushing a false narrative to serve partisan interests. "It is a huge outrage because it was fake. It was a lie," Rubio declared.

The senator took aim at the media’s role in amplifying the Trump-Russia allegations, arguing that they failed to critically analyze the dossier’s legitimacy before jumping to conclusions.

Many Democrats and media outlets embraced the dossier and its claims of collusion, feeding into the narrative that Trump’s campaign was compromised by foreign interference.

Despite multiple investigations, including the Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s inquiry, no direct evidence of collusion has ever been found. However, the dossier’s influence lingered in public discourse, and many Democrats continued to promote the claims, citing the incomplete and often contradictory findings of various investigations.

The senator’s frustration was particularly evident when he described how the media handled the revelations of the dossier’s falseness. "The media is either uninterested or too lazy to understand those nuances and that reality," Rubio criticized.

The insinuation here is that the media’s failure to investigate the dossier thoroughly contributed to the public's belief in its accuracy and fueled the continued narrative of Trump-Russia collusion.

Rubio’s comments came shortly after Tulsi Gabbard, the former Democratic Congresswoman from Hawaii, released a batch of documents she claims show the Obama administration’s role in fabricating the Russia interference narrative.

According to Gabbard, the intelligence gathered about Russian interference in the election was deliberately politicized to undermine the Trump campaign. These documents suggest that top officials within the Obama administration, including members of the intelligence community, may have used classified information to influence the 2016 election.

The release of these documents has caused a stir within Washington, and the Justice Department and FBI have already begun reviewing the materials for potential criminal implications.

While the documents have yet to lead to any concrete legal action, the allegations have deepened the divide between political factions. Many Democratic lawmakers, including Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Mark Warner, have expressed disappointment with Gabbard’s claims.

Warner took to social media to criticize Gabbard, calling her actions "not surprising" and accusing her of weaponizing her position to amplify election conspiracy theories.

"It is sadly not surprising that DNI Gabbard, who promised to depoliticize the intelligence community, is once again weaponizing her position to amplify the president’s election conspiracy theories," Warner wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

For Rubio, Gabbard’s release of the documents was a significant moment, signaling the continuation of the investigation into the Russiagate scandal. The senator has repeatedly stated that his investigation found no evidence of Trump’s involvement with Russia.

However, some Democrats argue that while there may not have been direct collusion, the interference from Russia in the election was undeniable.

President Donald Trump has weighed in on the ongoing controversy, supporting Rubio’s criticisms and calling the entire investigation a "witch hunt." Trump called the investigation "treasonous" and expressed frustration with the media’s coverage of the matter.

"Look, he’s guilty. It’s not a question," Trump said about former President Obama. "This was treason, this was every word you can think of."

Trump’s comments are part of his broader campaign to discredit the entire Russia investigation, which has dogged his presidency since its inception. In his typical style, Trump continues to allege that the investigation was a politically motivated effort to delegitimize his victory in 2016.

On the other hand, a spokesperson for former President Obama dismissed the accusations, calling them "bizarre" and "a weak attempt at distraction." Obama’s administration has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing regarding the Russia interference investigation, and his team has maintained that the actions taken during the campaign were legitimate efforts to protect U.S. democracy from foreign interference.

While the Russia investigation continues to captivate Washington, Rubio has also turned his attention to Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine. Rubio, who has long been critical of President Vladimir Putin, stated that the Biden administration is running out of patience with the Russian leader.

"What bothers the president the most is he has these great phone calls where everyone sort of claims, you know, we’d like to see this end if we could find a way forward," Rubio said, referring to U.S. efforts to facilitate peace talks. "Then he turns on the news and another city’s been bombed."

Rubio expressed frustration with the lack of progress in peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, signaling that the Biden administration may take more drastic measures if the war continues to escalate.

Trump, in turn, has set a 10-day deadline for Putin to agree to a ceasefire deal or face new, harsh sanctions. "So far, there’s not been what we feel, at least, sincere interest on the Russian side in achieving that objective," Rubio said, referring to the ongoing peace talks. "But obviously, the president’s not going to wait forever."

As the investigation into the Trump-Russia collusion allegations continues, it is clear that the political fallout will not subside anytime soon. Rubio’s strong criticisms of the media, the Democrats, and the Russia investigation reflect the growing frustration among some Republicans and their supporters.

The debate over Russia’s role in the 2016 election and the extent of the Trump campaign’s involvement is far from over, and as new documents emerge, the controversy is sure to escalate.

Whether these revelations will lead to legal action or merely further divide the political landscape remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the Russiagate scandal will continue to shape U.S. politics for years to come.
