Trump promises strong law and order in Los Angeles as Democrats coddle violent mobs

As violent mobs once again turned the streets of Los Angeles into a war zone, President Donald Trump stood firm and vowed that strong law and order would prevail, no matter how loudly Democrats tried to spin the chaos as peaceful protest.

With National Guard troops already on the ground protecting federal property from radical agitators, Trump made it clear to reporters on Sunday that the lawless thugs terrorizing LA’s streets would not be allowed to escape justice. “There are violent people,” the President said. “And they’re not gonna get away with it.”

The President’s words came as the latest wave of leftist protests descended into sheer anarchy, with so-called demonstrators setting self-driving cars ablaze, hurling concrete and fireworks at police, and blockading freeways.

This is the pathetic state of Democrat-run cities in 2025, where elected officials spend more time attacking the President and defending illegal aliens than they do protecting their own citizens. President Trump has had enough, and so have millions of law-abiding Americans watching this madness unfold.

Sunday marked the third straight day of violence in Los Angeles, as Democrats like Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass shamelessly pandered to the mob instead of backing law enforcement.

While these Democrat leaders held press conferences blaming the President for the unrest, National Guard troops stood shoulder to shoulder on the streets protecting federal buildings from a crowd that clearly came prepared for violence.

Protesters hurled everything from rocks to electric scooters at officers and then had the audacity to cry about crowd-control tactics when police pushed back.

The images were clear: while Antifa-style agitators and their allies in the far-left “immigrant rights” movement launched projectiles at police and burned cars on the 101 Freeway, National Guard troops and federal agents stood ready to defend order.

Flash bangs and tear gas filled the streets—not because of any action by President Trump, but because Democrat leadership allowed this city to become a playground for radicals who believe they are above the law.

And as usual, the Democrats ran for cover and blamed everyone but themselves. Newsom sent a letter demanding that President Trump withdraw the Guard—a move that would amount to surrendering the city to the mob.

He called the deployment a “serious breach of state sovereignty.” No, Governor—it’s a necessary defense of federal sovereignty and the rule of law after you failed to do your job.

Meanwhile, Mayor Bass babbled on about Trump provoking unrest, as if National Guard troops were responsible for Molotov cocktails being thrown at California Highway Patrol officers.

The facts speak for themselves. Trump’s deployment of the Guard was fully legal and absolutely necessary. The President invoked a legal provision that allows him to act when there is a rebellion or danger of rebellion against the authority of the United States.

With protesters openly attempting to obstruct lawful federal immigration enforcement, attacking federal buildings, and terrorizing the streets, the case was open and shut. While Democrats tried to grandstand about state rights, they conveniently ignored their own duty to protect public safety.

And the most laughable part of all? Democrats whined that deploying the Guard would inflame tensions—this after their own local police had already been overwhelmed and forced to take cover as the protests spiraled out of control.

The Los Angeles Police Department itself admitted the obvious. Police Chief Jim McDonnell said his officers were “overwhelmed” and pointed out that professional agitators were clearly embedded within the crowds.

While the Biden-holdover bureaucrats in California tried to pretend that their police could handle it, the men and women on the front lines knew otherwise.

Democrat hypocrisy was on full display. Newsom and Bass pretended that they wanted peaceful protest, but stood by as violent thugs turned the city into a war zone.

They even had the gall to attack President Trump for posting a message congratulating the Guard before they arrived. Perhaps Newsom was too busy promoting Pride Month hashtags to notice the streets burning.

The only ones keeping order were Trump’s Guard troops and the federal agents standing between the mob and the rule of law.

And why did this chaos erupt in the first place? Because federal agents dared to do their jobs. When ICE agents arrested over 100 illegal aliens, including dangerous criminals, the left-wing mob decided that violence was the answer.

It’s no surprise. For years, Democrats have glorified the idea of sanctuary cities, protected criminal aliens from deportation, and demonized federal law enforcement. Now they act shocked when their rhetoric inspires violent resistance to lawful immigration enforcement.

Let’s be clear: this is not about protecting immigrants or standing up for human rights. This is about Democrats and their radical allies trying to shield illegal aliens from deportation and undermine President Trump’s America First agenda.

When federal agents moved to enforce the law, the mob moved to block freeways, attack police, and set fires. And Democrat leaders rushed to defend the mob, not the law.

It is no coincidence that this latest wave of violence erupted in California—the epicenter of the sanctuary state movement and the progressive war on border security.

President Trump has warned for years that Democrat policies would lead to chaos. Now that it has arrived, he is acting decisively to restore order while Democrats whine about sovereignty and blame the President for their own failures.

And let us not forget the sheer absurdity of the Democrats’ spin. Governor Newsom called Trump a “stone cold liar” for supposedly not mentioning the Guard during a phone call.

Whether Trump mentioned it or not is irrelevant—the President has both the legal authority and the moral duty to act when states refuse to protect federal property and uphold the law.

Newsom’s real objection isn’t about process; it’s about politics. He would rather see Trump fail than see order restored.

The contrast between Republican leadership and Democrat cowardice could not be starker. While President Trump vows to send whatever forces are necessary to protect American cities, Democrats hide behind identity politics and virtue signaling.

They have no plan to stop the violence, no willingness to support law enforcement, and no vision beyond appeasing their far-left base.

Even as the mob torched Waymo self-driving cars, blocked major freeways, and attacked officers, Democrats continued to scold the President instead of condemning the criminals in their midst.

This is what modern Democrat leadership looks like—more concerned with hashtags and soundbites than with defending the basic rule of law.

President Trump, meanwhile, remains undeterred. He told reporters that if necessary, more troops would be deployed to cities like Los Angeles to ensure that this kind of anarchy does not spread.
