President Donald Trump once again showed the steady hand of a leader this weekend, brushing off the latest round of public outbursts from Elon Musk, who appears to be spiraling deeper into a personal feud of his own making.

As Musk hurled wild accusations and threatened to fund Democrats in upcoming elections, President Trump made it clear he has no intention of catering to a billionaire acting out of frustration and ego.

In a phone interview with NBC News on Saturday, the President delivered a simple and unmistakable warning should Musk take his vendetta to the next level by backing the left.

“If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences for that,” Trump said. The President wisely declined to elaborate further, leaving no doubt that he will defend the integrity of his administration and the American people’s agenda with every tool at his disposal.

The President also made it clear that his once cordial relationship with Musk is finished, and that he has far more important work to do than indulge the tantrums of a tech billionaire.

“I would assume so, yeah,” Trump said when asked if the relationship was over. “I’m too busy doing other things. You know, I won an election in a landslide. I gave him a lot of breaks, long before this happened, I gave him breaks in my first administration, and saved his life in my first administration. I have no intention of speaking to him.”

The President’s words remind the nation that it was Trump who protected Musk’s business empire during difficult times, and now Musk repays that loyalty with public betrayal and personal attacks.

The unraveling of Musk’s relationship with the President was set in motion by Musk’s over-the-top opposition to Trump’s budget bill, which passed the House last month and now heads to the Senate.

Rather than offering thoughtful critique or private counsel, Musk instead chose to flood social media with deranged posts, calling for Trump to be impeached and even suggesting that Vice President JD Vance replace him.

In classic Trump fashion, the President responded with justified strength, reminding Musk that his government contracts are not guaranteed and that reckless behavior has consequences.

Meanwhile, Trump ally Steve Bannon rightly called for an investigation into Musk’s immigration status and alleged drug use—valid questions given Musk’s increasingly erratic public behavior.

Vice President JD Vance, ever the loyal and steady partner to the President, addressed Musk’s meltdown with the calm and principled leadership Americans have come to expect from him.

Speaking on a podcast with comedian Theo Von, Vance said plainly that Musk was making “a huge mistake” by going after the President in such a bitter and destructive fashion.

The Vice President also wisely pointed out that Musk is simply an “emotional guy” who let his frustrations get the better of him. Vance added that he hoped Musk would “come back into the fold,” though he admitted that might no longer be possible given how “nuclear” Musk had gone.

Vance’s comments underscored his loyalty to President Trump and his understanding that petty feuds serve no one but America’s enemies.

As Musk’s tantrum unfolded, the President remained focused on delivering results for the American people. According to Vance, while Musk was railing against the “Big Beautiful Bill,” the President displayed admirable restraint.

“He was getting a little frustrated, feeling like some of the criticisms were unfair coming from Elon, but I think has been very restrained because the President doesn’t think that he needs to be in a blood feud with Elon Musk,” Vance said.

That measured response once again demonstrated why President Trump remains a towering figure of leadership: he will defend himself when necessary, but he will not be distracted from the mission of Making America Great Again.

It is worth remembering just how close Musk once was to the President and the conservative movement. Not long ago, Musk served as a special advisor to Trump and led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), where he contributed to efforts to cut waste and streamline government.

Vice President Vance was generous in acknowledging Musk’s past contributions, calling him an “incredible entrepreneur” and saying that DOGE “was really good.” But Musk’s recent descent into self-destructive behavior shows just how far he has strayed from those productive days.

The lowest point of Musk’s tantrum came when he falsely claimed that the Trump administration was hiding information about the President’s association with Jeffrey Epstein.

It was a despicable smear with no basis in fact. When confronted with this baseless attack during the podcast interview, Vance immediately shut it down. “Absolutely not. Donald Trump didn’t do anything wrong with Jeffrey Epstein,” Vance said.

“Whatever the Democrats and the media says about them, that’s totally BS.” The Vice President’s swift and forceful defense of the President was exactly what the moment required, leaving no room for Musk’s reckless lies.

In typical cowardly fashion, Musk later deleted the post about Epstein, along with his call for the President to be impeached and replaced with Vance. It was a tacit admission that he had gone too far.

Yet the damage was already done, and his credibility took another hit in the eyes of Americans who value truth and loyalty over cheap theatrics.

Despite Musk’s attacks, Vice President Vance remained focused on defending the President’s budget bill, which has become the latest target of Musk’s wrath.

Vance explained that the bill’s central goal is to extend the hugely successful 2017 tax cuts that fueled economic growth during Trump’s first term. While the bill also includes spending cuts, Vance acknowledged it is not perfect—showing the kind of honest leadership Americans appreciate.

“It’s a good bill,” Vance said. “It’s not a perfect bill.” But it is a bill that moves the country in the right direction and continues the Trump administration’s mission of delivering prosperity for hardworking Americans.

Vance also called out House Republicans who voted for the bill and then later complained about certain provisions. “The idea that people haven’t had an opportunity to actually read it is ridiculous,” he said, noting that the text had been available for weeks.

Once again, Vance showed the integrity and clarity that have made him such an effective and loyal partner to the President.

Looking at the broader picture, it is clear that Musk’s public tantrum is doing him no favors. As Vice President Vance warned, “Really, man, I think it’s a huge mistake for him to go after the President like that. I think that if he and the President are in some blood feud, most importantly it’s gonna be bad for the country, but I don’t think it’s gonna be good for Elon either.”

Musk may think he is untouchable, but his businesses depend heavily on government contracts, and his erratic behavior is rapidly eroding the goodwill he once enjoyed.

Is Elon Musk to blame for the demise of Mike Johnson's spending bill?

Ultimately, President Trump remains focused on the big picture—passing pro-growth legislation, restoring American greatness, and leading with strength and resolve. He will not be distracted by a billionaire’s public tantrum.

Nor will Vice President Vance, whose loyalty and steady leadership continue to serve the President and the nation well. Americans can rest assured that their President remains firmly in command, and that no amount of social media noise will deter him from the mission of delivering for the American people.
