A new book has sparked controversy over an alleged interaction between President Donald Trump and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) during his 2023 campaign period. The book, Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power by Axios reporter Alex Isenstadt, claims that Trump made an offhand comment about his private jet’s bed while offering Luna a place to rest during a flight.
Luna, who was pregnant at the time, has since spoken out strongly against the book’s portrayal, calling it a deliberate attack on Trump and dismissing the story as misleading.
According to the book, Luna was aboard Trump’s personal jet in the summer of 2023 while experiencing pregnancy-related illness. At one point, Trump allegedly turned to Luna and offered her a place to lie down.
“If you need a bed to lay down in, there's one here on the plane. If you feel sick and you need to lay there, you can lay on it,” Trump reportedly told her.
However, the detail that set off controversy was Trump’s follow-up remark: “Just don't tell Melania. She doesn’t like other women on my bed.”
While the book frames the interaction as questionable, Luna wasted no time in refuting that narrative. On Monday, she took to X (formerly Twitter) to push back, calling out what she described as an effort to distort an innocent and compassionate gesture.
Luna, who rarely engages with negative media coverage, felt compelled to respond to this particular allegation. She clarified that Trump’s offer was nothing more than an act of kindness, made in the presence of her husband, and had been completely misrepresented.
"I was very pregnant and at the time experiencing pre-eclampsia symptoms, but was not diagnosed," Luna explained. "As soon as [Trump] boarded the plane, being the gentleman and good person that he is, he said if I did not feel well, I could use the back room."
She emphasized that Trump made the offer respectfully, without any inappropriate implications, and in full view of her husband. "We thanked him for it," she noted.
In addition to the bed offer, Luna also revealed that Trump had taken further steps to ensure her well-being. “He also assured me that they had a medical team on board in case anything happened and they were aware of how pregnant I was,” she said. “This was the most compassionate thing that could’ve been done at the time. I find it disgusting that the author fails to recognize that.”
Luna also pointed out that her pre-eclampsia symptoms worsened in the following weeks, ultimately leading to an induced birth. She delivered her child on August 27, 2023.
The book’s portrayal of the interaction between Luna and Trump has led to an outcry from Trump allies, who see it as another example of the media twisting events to fit a negative narrative. Luna herself made it clear that she believes Revenge was written with an anti-Trump agenda.
“The author of this book never reached out to me for comment,” she stated. “Which means that this book is likely going to be a s--- hit piece.”
She further called for Trump’s inner circle to take action against those feeding information to authors like Isenstadt. “If people in POTUS orbit are talking to this author, they need to be cut off immediately. This is gross.”
The White House has not directly responded to the claim in the book, but Trump’s allies have already begun rallying against it. Many view it as a desperate attempt to drum up controversy where none exists.
This controversy emerges as President Trump enters his second term in office, facing continued media scrutiny and political opposition. Every detail of his past and present interactions is being dissected, with many seeing the Revenge book as yet another example of how Trump’s critics will spin any situation to discredit him.
Luna’s strong response to the book is also significant in terms of Republican Party dynamics. A staunch supporter of Trump, Luna has positioned herself as one of his most vocal defenders in Congress.
Her quick and public rebuttal signals the GOP’s continued efforts to push back against narratives that paint Trump in a negative light.
Moreover, this controversy reflects a broader trend of political figures using social media to control their own narratives rather than allowing mainstream media and book authors to dictate the terms. By responding forcefully and directly on X, Luna ensured that her version of events was made clear before the book’s claims could gain too much traction.
Luna’s reaction underscores a growing frustration among Trump’s allies with what they see as a pattern of media bias and deliberate misrepresentation. The release of books like Revenge has become a common strategy used by journalists and political insiders to shape public perception, often without giving the accused parties a chance to respond before publication.
This latest controversy is unlikely to be the last as Trump continues to face relentless scrutiny in his second term. His presidency has been marked by both staunch support and fierce opposition, ensuring that every action he takes remains a topic of debate.
As President Trump leads the country through his second term, attacks from the media and opposition figures are expected to intensify. His policies, leadership style, and even personal interactions remain under constant scrutiny, with books like Revenge seeking to paint him in a negative light.
For Trump’s supporters, Luna’s defense serves as a reminder that not every headline tells the full story. As Luna herself put it, “I don't like giving trash credibility.” However, in this case, she felt compelled to speak out—not just to defend herself, but to push back against a broader effort to smear the president.
In the ever-polarized world of American politics, the battle over truth and narrative continues. And as Trump’s presidency moves forward, moments like these will likely only reinforce the divide between those who see him as a leader unfairly targeted by the media and those who view every revelation as further proof of controversy.
